Here's something I meant to post a little while ago. I was between classes as I wrote it, a little upset with that thing that I noticed:
I was just checking my emails between classes when I noticed out of the corner of my eye that there was a little piece of casing starting to break away from my brand new mac book. It's not really in a critical place but this is a brand new mac book, and furthermore it's my brand new mac. Any break in my brand new mac is absolutely unacceptable. The break is in the casing on the lower edge, below the keyboard -a few centimeters to the right of the touch pad where the screen rest makes contact with the bottom half of the computer. When I saw it, I stifled a scream (but only because I'm in the library).
But wait, back
up! I was in history class a few days ago when my friend, Brent, showed
me his new mac book. It was the same model as mine, and like me he is
now a proud mac user (Mac pride!). He usually runs a set of turntables
through his, but he also brings it to class for taking notes down;
as he brought his out to show me I asked him how he liked his new mac.
He tells me that he's in love with it "...But look at this, man!" And
he points to a little part of the casing (near the edge) that had
broken off -which was (be damned!) in the very same place that the casing is now breaking away on mine!
"HOLY FUCK!"
"Yeah, I know. It is covered under warranty, though. Apparently this happens a lot."
"Really?
Well, I would hope it's covered!" The teacher walked in, we shut up,
and then class proceeded. That was last week. My mac was in perfect
condition last week. I try to keep ALL my things in perfect
condition, especially when they're expensive and I haven't got them
paid off yet! Regardless, I take good care of my mac.
These are the things now running through my mind:
> Has Brent cursed my beautiful new laptop?
> Am I still covered under warranty?
> How am I going to find the time to run up to Future Shop this week? (I have a lot of study to do!)
> Can I prevent it from breaking any farther?
> Is this some sort of epidemic?
>SHIT!
Megan's computer isn't working right either. If she can't get that long-promised ride out to FS then perhaps- since we're going to the same place, for the same reason -we can go together... When I'm rich, I'm going to have Macintosh make a MacBook out of chromium for me. Or perhaps titanium. That would be awesome, and shiny too!
[sigh]
Hello,
I'm new to Vox and a refugee from the late Greatest Journal -a place where I contributed my thoughts for a mere three months before the site died on me. During its heyday, I am told Greatest Journal was truly the Greatest Journal, but I arrived during the worst part of its decline, and sadly I knew nothing of its golden years. Still though, I got attached to GJ really quickly, and I'm a little bitter about loosing it, and even more bitter about having to find a new place to write in.
Vox seems like the best alternative to GJ, so here I am, and I come here alone. As I set up this account, I'm sitting in my university's library waiting to write my first math test of the semester. Shouldn't be too bad, I'm ready for it. After this I get to go home and shovel away all the snow that fell today. I wonder if I'll have any help... but I doubt it, and that's not for here; not now.
Well, introductory entries are always tough. Let's see: I'm twenty years old, a Taurus, a university student, a bookworm, and an internet hoodlum. I'm working on the preliminaries for a Biology degree, so I'm a nature person. I enjoy many things, and I try my damndest to keep an open mind. I like writing, and that's why I'm here. Practice, entertainment. I like to update often, and I like to read what other people have to say. With any luck I'll have a few friends on here soon.
Perhaps I'll update a little later if I'm not too busy, but for now I had better go and write my test. Hello, Vox; wish me luck!
